This company invested heavily in startups that grew to become big companies (like Rivian) and formed joint ventures with other manufacturers to develop platforms and batteries (like Volkswagen) further. However, that is not all. Ford had even pledged to be completely carbon-neutral by 2030 on the European market but recently put this decision on hold. But, its extensive lineup of specific models, both in Europe and in America, confirms that Ford's future is EV and will continue investing and developing its cars in this direction. Ford EV Models

As a global industrial powerhouse, Ford offers various models in different markets, but some models are the same worldwide. Since we operate in the European market primarily, we will cover the EU-spec models currently on offer. Let's start with the latest addition to Ford's European EV fleet – the Ford Capri EV. This compact crossover uses the Volkswagen ID.4 platform, and it is offered in two variants: rear and all-wheel drive with two battery sizes. Next is the Ford Explorer EV, a slightly bigger SUV with a rugged design and more interior space. The most exciting Ford EV is the Mustang Mach E, which borrows the design and performance allure from the legendary Ford Mustang. It also comes in several versions and battery sizes, emphasizing performance and driving dynamics. On the other end of the model specter, Ford offers two battery-powered commercial vehicles – E-Transit and E-Transit Custom. Both are significant steps toward implementing EV technology in commercial vehicles. As you can see, all of Ford's current EV models use names from the company's glorious past, which shows that Ford's marketing strategist intends to keep the old and iconic models alive by remastering them with modern tech. 

Ford EV Technology

Such a diverse lineup of electric cars means that Ford is using several types of platforms and battery packs. The Ford Capri EV and Ford Explorer EV are based on the platforms borrowed from Volkswagen ID.4 The Capri EV is offered with two battery sizes (77 kWh – rear wheel drive and 79 kWh – all-wheel-drive), while the Explorer EV can be ordered with a 55 kWh battery in the base model and with an optional 82 kWh battery pack. These models use lithium-ion technology 400 v architecture and can support AC and DC charging. Both cars charging rates are 11 kW on AC and up to 135 kW on DC charging. The Mustang Mach E is a step up as a sporty crossover with a 68 or 88 kWh battery pack, dual or single motor, and rear or all-wheel-drive. It also uses lithium-ion technology with 400 v architecture, capable of AC and DC charging at an 11 kW/150 kW rate. The commercial part of Ford's EV fleet starts with E-Transit, which uses the same 68 kWh battery from Mustang Mach-E, but its drivetrain is engineered more towards practicality, range, and usability rather than performance. Interestingly, the slightly smaller E-Transit Custom uses battery technology from the F-150 Lightening EV, resulting in 74 kWh capacity and the same 400 v architecture.
