Citroen EV Background
Citroen was always known as a quirky brand with unusual but often genius technical solutions and design in the car industry's nomenclature. Citroen was never afraid to introduce something new and advanced during its long history. So, it is logical that the company with such a background was one of the pioneers of the EV revolution some 30 years ago when they presented the diminutive but important Citroen AX Electrique, the first fully production-ready electric car. Even though this experiment showed the forward-thinking of Citroen's engineers, which resulted in today's position on the market. Three decades later, Citroen is one of the most popular brands in the zero-emissions bracket, with a range of carefully designed models and some interesting approaches to the idea. We at Voldt support Citroen's vision and develop our products to comply with its EV range.
Citroen EV Models
Even though the AX Electrique was discontinued decades ago, its spirit still lives in Citroen's EV model range. It means that this company concentrated on the practicality, affordability, and usability of its battery-powered model rather than on performance and exclusivity. The lineup starts with the diminutive but very popular Ami, a revolutionary, two-seater urban mini-car perfect for congested modern city boulevards. The next is the E-C4 Electric, an elegant-looking family crossover. Citroen also offers two electric vans – E-Berlingo Electric and E-Spacetourer Electric. E-Berlingo is a battery-powered version of the popular compact van which features a lot of space, small dimensions, and immense usability, while the E-Spacetourer is a full-size van with up to 9 seats and lots of room. However, that is not all, since Citroen has a fully electric range of delivery vehicles in three distinctive sizes. The E-Berlingo Van Electric, E-Dispatch Electric, and E-Relay Electric are all designed to be used in urban areas and provide the usability of classic panel vans with zero emissions.
Citroen EV Technology
Due to the wide range of battery-powered models, Citroen uses a host of different tech. The Ami is not only one of the smallest and most affordable EVs on the market but also features a tiny battery pack of only 7 kWh, which is enough for about 75 km of range. It only accepts AC charging at the rate of 2.3 kW. The E-C4 Electric is more advanced and powerful, with a 54 kWh battery capacity of 7.4 kW AC charging and a 100 kW DC charging rate. The identical tech is used in E-Berlingo, while the bigger electric vans have the same battery size, and more power and torque are needed to handle the additional weight. However, the downside is the noticeably shorter range. Even though Citroen's model lineup is diverse, we at Voldt readily have all the charging cable solutions you need to power those exciting machines safely and quickly.
